For many years I taught studio arts in Kuwait. The environment and culture influenced my work as a painter. The Abaya series is a reflection of my responses to living in this culture. Because I am a landscape painter at heart and the environment of the Middle East is not conducive to painting out of doors, I found in the Pomegranate the vistas, valleys, and peaks reflected in the nature of my home land. |
